Frank Onyeka opened the scoring for the Super Eagles. Mechak Elia levelled matters for the Leopards. Both goals of the match were scored in the first half of the normal time. The match went into extra-time after ninety minutes of football and the scoreline remained unchanged. Democratic Republic of Congo won 4-3 on penalties. With this match result, DR Congo are through to the next round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and Nigeria have been eliminated.
