Bertrand Traore opened the scoring for the Stallions. Burkina Faso went into the halftime break leading by 1-0. Adama Guira’s own goal levelled matters for the Panthers on the second half. The scoreline remained unchanged in the extra-time. Burkina Faso won 7-6 on penalties and also became they first team to book the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final spot.
