An own goal by Yasser Ibrahim opened the scoring for the Green Devils. The 2021 CAF Confederations Cup champions went into halftime break leading by 1-0. Taher Mohamed levelled matters for the Red Devils on the second half and also sent the straight to the spot kicks. Al Ahly won 6-5 on penalties. With this match result, Pitso Mosimane became the first African born coach to win the back to back CAF Super Cup titles and he also became the first African born coach to win the three CAF Super Cup titles. Furthermore, Al Ahly have now won eight CAF Super Cup titles.
