Daizen Maeda opened the scoring for the Samurai Blue. Japan went into the halftime break leading by 1-0. Ivan Perisic levelled matters for the Vatreni on the second half and his goal took the match to extra-time. The scoreline remained unchanged on extra-time. Croatia won 3-1 on penalties. With this match result, Croatia became the fifth nation to book the quarter-final spot of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Vinicius Junior opened the scoring for the Little Canary. Neymar doubled the lead for the Little Canary through the penalty spot. Richarlison tripled the lead for the Little Canary. Lucas Paquetá added the fourth goal for the Little Canary. Brazil went into the halftime break leading by 4-0. Seung-ho Paik pulled one back for the Red Devils on the second half. With this match result, Brazil will face Croatia in the quarter-final of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on 9 December 2022.
