The match went into the extra-time and scoreline remained unchanged. Orlando Pirates won 5-4 on penalties. With this match result, Orlando Pirates became the first team to book the semi-final spot of the 2023 Nedbank Cup.

An own goal by Lee Langeveldt opened the scoring for the Brazilians. The Nedbank Cup defending champions went into the halftime break leading by 1-0. Iqraam Rayners levelled matters for the host. Iqraam Rayners completed his brace and also sealed the win for the Stellies. With this match result, Rulani Mokwena registered his first defeat as the head coach of Mamelodi Sundowns.
