Platinum Stars Football Club is the only team in ABSA Premiership which was relegated twice in one season.
This happened in 2017/18 season, their first part of their relegation on that season happened on 25 April 2018 after losing to AmaZulu Football Club by 2-1 at Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
The North West province team which was commonly known as Dikwena were given the lifeline to save their ABSA Premiership status by the Premier Soccer League after Ajax Cape Town were found guilty for fielding ineligible player in the name of Tendai Ndoro.
Platinum Stars went to the playoffs which they competed against Black Leopards and Jomo Cosmos.
Black Leopards were the eventually winners of that mini tournament and it was the of the road for Platinum Stars in ABSA Premiership.
