There are new seven team names in the GladAfrica Championship.
Those new seven names are Sekhukhune United, Cape Town All Stars, Polokwane City, Cape Town Spurs, Royal AM, Pretoria Callies and Bizana Pondo Chiefs.
Sekhukhune United
The Sekhukhune United club owner bought the GladAfrica Championship status of the Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila which is now campaigning in the DStv Premiership after their owners bought the status of the defunct Bidvest Wits.
Cape Town All Stars
The Cape Town All Stars club owners bought back their GladAfrica Championship status which they sold to TS Galaxy owner (Tim Sukazi) two seasons ago. TS Galaxy is now campaigning in the DStv Premiership after their owner (Tim Sukazi) bought the status of Highlands Park.
Polokwane City
The Limpopo side was relegated from the ABSA Premiership last season which is now called DSTV Premiership. The Rise and Shine are replacing Swallows who are the 2019/20 champions.
Cape Town Spurs
The club owners of Cape Town Spurs acquired fifty one percent shares which was held by Ajax Amsterdam in past twenty one years, they now own one hundred percent shares of the club and the team name was renamed to Cape Town Spurs.
Royal AM
The club owner of Royal AM bought the GladAfrica status of Real Kings and the team name was renamed to Royal AM.
Pretoria Callies
The Gauteng side was promoted to the GladAfrica Championship from the ABC Motsepe League.
Bizana Pondo Chiefs
The Eastern Cape side was promoted to GladAfrica Championship from the ABC Motsepe League.
Pretoria Callies and Bizana Pondo are replacing Royal Eagles and Mbombela United who were relegated last season.
