TUT are the 2023 Varsity Football Men champions after defeating UJ on penalties at UJ Soweto Stadium.

Thuso Mlamla opened the scoring for the Red Army. The defending champions went into the halftime break leading by 1-0. Siphosihle Nkambule levelled matters for the Orange Army on the second and his goal took the match to the penalties. Tshwane University of Technology won 5-4 on penalties. With this match result, TUT crowned 2023 Varsity Football Men champions and they also became the first ever team to list this trophy four times.
