Senegal vs Uganda
Senegal will open their group match against Uganda at Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah at 17h00. Leading to this prestigious tournament Senegal thrashed Liberia 8-1 in the round of qualifiers before going pass Mali, that victory against Mali showed that they can compete against strong opponents. Senegal have never made it out of the group stages of the Women’s African Cup of Nations, these players they are to be tested in this level.
Uganda played their first women’s international in 1998, drawing against Egypt and were unlucky to be eliminated from the group stages in the year 2000. The Crested Cranes have not appeared in the tournament since. They don’t have so many players from overseas but it must be noted that their star player Fauzia Najjemba who ply her trade in Khazakstan for BIIK Kazygurt will be a player to watch out. They might lack experience in bigger stage but they are hoping to change that.
Cameroon vs Zambia
Meanwhile Cameroon will lock horns with Zambia at 19h00 at Stade Mohamed V. Cameroon sent experienced players to represent the nation in the WAFCON, experienced defender US- based Johnson, 33 is one of the 19 debutant players to taste the African showpiece for the first time as coach Gabriel Zabo only retained just seven players with experienced from previous edition.

Zambia was thrown into the deep end in the qualifying stages, against Malawi they were victorious with an aggregate of 4-3 before drawing with Namibia and won with an away goal rule. The Copper Queens best WAFCON was in the year 1995 when they reached quarter finals. In 2014 and 2016 they were eliminated in the group stages. It should be noted that they were the only African team to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics last year and they put up a good showing with the star player Barbra Banda scoring back to back hat tricks against Netherlands and China. Banda will not be part of this year’s edition due to medical issues
Tunisia vs Togo
Later Tunisia will lock horns with Togo at 22h00 at Stade Mohamed V. Tunisia cruised past Egypt in the qualifying stages before beating Equitorial Gunea by an aggregate of 7-3. Their star player Mariem Houji will be looking foward to showcase her talent because wherever she goes the defender feels their chills in the stomach. They have never gone passed the knockout stage and not appeared since 2008.
Togo national women’s football started playing in official FIFA match in 2006. They have little overseas based players but they have enjoyed their inform. Following disruptive administrative in qualifying they have been struggling with withdrawals from qualifying for major tournament and this will be their first WAFCON. Togo faced Sao Tome and Principe and played against Gabon and won those matches. They have a huge task ahead of them in the WAFCON as they will be competing with best teams
